Harrison Shares New Splash Pad Plans
The City of Harrison is thrilled to announce updated plans for a new community splash pad, set to open in Summer 2026 behind the Harrison Community Center. Thoughtfully designed with families in mind, this project reflects community priorities and aims to deliver more than just summer fun.
In 2023, more than 800 residents participated in Harrison’s Recreation Improvement Survey. A splash pad ranked high on the list of desired amenities, alongside new restrooms, walking trails, and upgrades to existing ballfields and the skate park. The splash pad is one of several projects funded by the Community Recreation Fund, a decade-long partnership between homebuilders and the City to invest in public spaces.
Director of Public Works Andy Seiter shared that the splash pad design, now finalized, covers 4,300 square feet and was carefully engineered for both fun and function. “We brought in experts to make sure we were making the most of the space both for this project and any future additions nearby,” said Seiter.
The new splash pad will be located between the existing playground and the shelter where many concerts and events are held. This central placement improves access for families while preserving open green space for future projects, including a possible outdoor amphitheater.
Key features of the splash pad will include:
Mushroom Maze
Water-Brella
Lotus Petal
Spin-A-Round
Fill-N-Spill
Jet Way
Water rings and more interactive elements
The plan also includes 10 new parking spaces, updated landscaping, and a new path connecting the shelter directly to restrooms, so eventgoers and parents don’t have to walk through the splash zone to access facilities.
This project is the latest example of how Harrison is investing in the spaces that make our city a great place to live, play, and gather. Construction is expected to begin in 2025, with a grand opening planned for May 2026.
