Making a Splash: Harrison Celebrates New Community Splash Pad

Harrison's new splash pad opened on a sunny day, and the community showed up. Families, neighbors, city staff, and local leaders gathered at the Harrison Community Center to mark the occasion not just a ribbon cutting, but the kind of afternoon these spaces are built for because they bring us together.
The ribbon cutting was filled with exactly the kind of moments: kids running through the water, parents connecting along the sidelines, and neighbors enjoying a place built for shared hometown memories.
The new splash pad was designed to be simple, accessible, and family-friendly. Using a fresh water flow-through system activated by timed push-button controls, the design allows for efficient operation while creating a clean and easy experience for families throughout the day. Alongside the splash pad, the new restroom facility helps support the growing use of the Community Center campus and surrounding recreation areas.
Together, the projects represent a well considered investment in Harrison’s parks and recreation infrastructure. The splash pad project cost approximately $400,000. These improvements were funded through a $1 million Capital Grant from the State of Ohio, along with $200,000 from the City’s Recreation Tax Fund, which is funded through bedroom tax revenues collected from new home construction and designated specifically for recreation-related improvements.
Projects like this reflect Harrison’s continued commitment to investing thoughtfully in the quality of life amenities that serve residents today while supporting the city’s future growth.
The City thanks the departments, contractors, and partners who worked to bring both projects to completion. For those who missed opening day, the gallery below captures some moments from the celebration.
